Why don't all Board & Batten shutters have the same number and size of boards?
The windows on most homes vary in size, so each pair of Board & Batten shutters is custom-designed for its specific opening.
The left and right shutter on each window are always built as a matching pair, using the same board widths and the same number of boards to create a balanced, symmetrical appearance.
However, shutters on one window may have a different number or size of boards than shutters on another window if the window sizes are different. Unlike traditional wood shutters, aluminum boards are manufactured in standard widths and cannot simply be ripped narrower. Instead, we carefully combine different board widths to achieve the correct overall width while maintaining attractive proportions.
Non-Rated Board & Batten shutters are available with 3-inch and 4-inch boards, while Hurricane-Rated Board & Batten shutters are available with 3-inch, 4-inch, and 5-inch boards. These additional board widths allow us greater flexibility when designing shutters that complement your home's architecture.
The result is a home where every pair of shutters is properly proportioned for its window, creating a custom appearance rather than a one-size-fits-all look.
